Description
This is a 2" ceramic Vase. It has a legend 'Spanish Cannon, Hagerstown, Maryland'. This Spanish cannon was captured during the Spanish - American War in 1898 and somehow ended up in Hagerstown on North Potomac Street. I've read somewhere that this is the only National Park dedicated to this war. I also think it is the smallest National Park in the USA. On the bottom, it reads 'Wheelock, Germany, Made for McCroreys 5 and 10¢ Store, Hagerstown, Maryland'. In over 50 years of seeking out souvenirs of Hagerstown, this is the only one of these I have ever seen. I do not know how old it is but I would hazard a guess at 1900 - 1920. It is in perfect condition with no chips or cracks. Free local pick up or I can ship. Thanks for looking.
